CPR Certification
The Lincoln Land Community College Police Department will be conducting open testing on 01/12/2019. Candidates interested in attending the open testing must complete an online application no later than 12/31/18. Qualified applicants will be invited to campus to take the physical agility test and written exam. Testing will be held on the main campus in Springfield. Invitations to test will be sent to qualified applicants via email by 01/04/19. The department will place those who pass both the physical and written exam on an eligible for hire list to be used when a Police Officer vacancy becomes available.

Duties include, but are not limited to, quick response and leadership in all emergency situations; the detection and investigation of criminal activities; the carrying out of the Department’s comprehensive traffic enforcement program; providing back-up and assistance to LLCC’s Community Service Officers; assisting with development and delivery of College-wide safety programs; maintaining order on campus pursuant to State law and College policies; and providing vehicular and foot patrol of campus facilities and grounds.

Minimum starting salary is $41,419 per year with an excellent benefits package.

Position Requirements
Applicants must have sixty credit hours of coursework from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice or a related discipline OR three years experience in law enforcement, security, EMS or related field OR a comparable combination of experience and college coursework.

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.

Applicants must be currently certified by the state of Illinois as a Police Officer, be eligible for waiver, or be able to attain certification within six months of an offer of employment.

Applicants must possess or be willing to obtain a First Responder and CPR Certification.

Applicants must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral; and be able to deal effectively with a diverse college community.

Applicants must have ability to meet all physical requirements as follows:
1. Extended periods of standing, sitting, walking or running.
2. Lifting up to 50 lbs from floor to waist.
3. Ability to carry or drag up to 20 lbs.
4. Ability to push or pull up to 500 lbs (using 50 lbs of force).
5. Extended periods of reaching, stooping, crouching or crawling.
6. Extended periods of time climbing ladders or stairs.
7. Required ability to grip and hold item.

Employment is contingent on the successful completion of a physical agility test, basic written skills test, oral interview, detailed background check and investigation, physical exam, drug test, psychological exam and police officer certification.
