The University of Wisconsin-Platteville, located in Southwest Wisconsin, is currently recruiting for a campus Police Officer. This is a full-time position with full benefits. Hours and work schedule vary and are subject to change. Starting pay $21.00/hr.
Candidates must have completed a WI Department of Justice “Law Enforcement Recruit” training course and be eligible to receive certification upon employment.
Or already be certified by the WI Law Enforcement Standards Board as a Law Enforcement Officer.
This position will fully perform all law enforcement functions by enforcing local and state laws and University regulations on the UW-Platteville Campus under limited, general supervision; conduct general and investigations; performance of security and various other services to the University Community; attend required meetings and training programs; implement emergency procedures. This position will work in a wide variety of outdoor and indoor settings, including working in adverse weather conditions.
The University Police Department consists of a Police Chief, Police Sergeant, six full time officers, two program assistants, and approximately twenty student University Resource Officers. The mission of the University Police to maintain a safe and secure environment for learning, working, and personal growth, while providing assistance to a culturally enriched and diverse college population.
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville, founded in 1866, enrolls about 8,000 students in 42 baccalaureate and 6 master’s programs. It possesses institutional strengths in middle level education, engineering, industrial technology, agriculture, criminal justice and business. The campus is located in Southwest Wisconsin’s largest and most historic community.
