Police Officer enforces laws, ordinances, regulations, and policies. Investigates and documents crimes. Serves arrest and search warrants. Enforces traffic laws and investigates traffic collisions. Responds to emergencies. Patrols university property and works at special events. Collects, preserves, and prepares evidence for court. Testifies in court.
Required Education: GED/High School Grad or equivalent combination of education/job related experience, OR:
1224 months public safety, law enforcement or military experience.
Ability to speak, read and write clear, concise English.
Basic math skills
Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions.
Basic computer skills.
Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff.
Able to produce reports and complete work within deadlines.
Strong initiative to solve problems.
Must have CLEET Peace Officer certification, or equivalent Peace Officer certification from another state.
Must have a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License or ability to obtain ODL by hire date.
Advertised Physical Requirements:
Ability to speak clear and concise English; ability to walk, climb stairs, and stand for extended periods of time; see, including color, depth perceptions and clarity; willingness to wear and maintain uniforms, including head covering. Must pass medical exam, as well as physical fitness test, pass standardized written aptitude test, pass MMPI and CPI tests. Must be 21 years of age or older by October 15, 2018. Must be a citizen of the USA. Hiring contingent upon successful completion of background check, including polygraph exam. May be required to work variations in hours of assignment, duration, and scheduling.
Foreign language ability.
Prior fulltime employment as a police officer.
