POSITION INFORMATION: Performs routine police work in the field and provides service oriented functions as required.
Patrol. Operates a patrol vehicle or patrols on foot in assigned areas. Report suspicious or hazardous activities.
Inspection. Performs inspections of buildings, parking lots and garages, etc.
Interview. Interviews and takes statements from victims, witnesses, and offenders.
Investigation. Investigates traffic accidents on Health Sciences Center property and may assist Oklahoma City police as requested. May conduct preliminary or special investigations.
Traffic Direction. Directs traffic and enforces parking and traffic regulations on Health Sciences Center property.
Emergency Response. Responds to emergencies and provides first aid.
Information Distribution. Provides information and assistance to the community.
Serving. Serves warrants and subpoenas.
Report Preparation. Prepares various reports pertaining to duties.
As Needed. Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: 6 months law enforcement or comparable experience
Equivalent/ Substitution: Will accept a graduate of a Collegiate Officer Program in lieu of the 6 months experience requirement.
Law Enforcement Officers must be certified or certifiable as a Peace Officer by the Oklahoma Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) within the first 6 months of employment.
Must be commissioned or appointed by the University prior to attending CLEET approved certification training.
Obtain and maintain CPR certification through the department.
Must have a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License.
Must be at least 21 years of age prior to certification as a peace officer.
A U.S. citizen or in resident alien status defined by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration.
Must have fingerprint clearance from FBI and Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and not have a conviction in state or federal court for any felony, crime of moral turpitude or a crime of domestic violence.
Must not have been involuntarily committed to a state mental institute.
Must pass Oklahoma Law Enforcement Retirement System physical and background investigation.
Knowledge of police procedures for gathering information involving crime and incident investigations, reporting and documentation.
Ability to pass a University psychological evaluation using a psychological instrument approved by CLEET.
Must be physically able to fully participate in and complete all phases of the CLEET Basic Peace Officer Certification Academy.
Ability to complete moderately complex administrative paperwork.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to operate police equipment, i.e., radar, breath alcohol analyzers, mobile computers and radio, lock systems, etc.
