Job Description Summary
The RSU Campus Police Officer will assist the RSU Campus Police Chief in providing campus-wide safety for University staff, students, faculty and visitors. In addition, they will assist the Chief in coordination with other law enforcement agencies in providing various programs and services.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

The Officer should know of:
Current campus law enforcement issues, theory and practices.
“Community Based Policing” philosophy
Health and Safety regulations and compliance strategies.
Strong foundation of student services.
The Officer should have:
Excellent written oral and communication skills.
The ability to provide high-quality service in a university setting.
The ability to work as a team member and interact effectively with people.
Ability to organize daily work.
Minimum 3 years experience in law enforcement setting.
Training in the areas of safety and health regulatory compliance, judicial systems, criminal investigations, crime prevention and intervention techniques and knowledge of “Community Base Police” philosophy.
Preferred Qualification Summary
Bachelors degree in criminal justice, education, social sciences or a closely related filed.
Graduate from a State recognized Police Academy. (Example: Tulsa or Oklahoma City Police Academy)
Advanced CLEET Certification and experience

Physical Demands
Ability to see, hear, speak, use hands and fingers, climb stairs, sit, lift, carry, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and push or pull.

Licenses and Certifications
C.L.E.E.T. certification as a Law Enforcement Officer to comply with Oklahoma State Law (Title 70, Section 3311).

Essential Duties

CONTACTS:
The Officer will be responsible for contact with students, faculty and staff.
The Officer will serve as a liaison with external local, state and federal law enforcement and safety organizations.
DECISION MAKING:
The Officer is responsible for making intelligent decisions involving RSU Campus Police policy and procedures.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
(Duties may include, but are not limited to the following)
Maintain and operate by written policies and procedures for the Emergency Operation Team
Maintain and operate by record and reporting mechanisms regarding the crime on campus
Maintain and manage by crime prevention and intervention programs for the University
Maintain and operate by record and reporting mechanisms regarding health and safety regulations
Provide leadership and organizational oversight for the Campus Community.
Review, maintain, and provide data for inclusion in the following documents and reports:
> The Student Code
> The Jeanne Clery Act
> Department of Justice (OSBI) monthly
reporting.
> Any other RSU Campus Police bulletins
Respond to all on-campus emergencies and issues involving safety.
Develop working relationships with area law enforcement agencies, emergency management organizations and safety organizations.
Participate in educational programming and training for staff, faculty and students o a variety of security related topics.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Chief.
