The successful candidate will be responsible for the prevention of illegal, unsafe or undesirable activity and regulatory violations through patrol, education, inspection, and the deterrent effect of enforcement. Candidates will also enforce local, state, and federal laws, as well as University regulations, through investigation, apprehension, and prosecution of violators. Typically requires an Associate’s degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
A degree-focus in criminal justice is preferred. Knowledge on the use of information technology, software applications, surveillance equipment, social media, and communications (digital and conventional) in conducting investigations is highly desired. The successful candidate will possess skills necessary to enhance public respect for law enforcement and the University with courteous, devoted, and ethical service, and will demonstrate: the ability to work cooperatively with various levels of faculty, staff, students, and outside agencies; the ability to provide effective and honest/credible testimony at court hearings; outstanding customer service orientation; excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent analytical, judgment, and organization skills; and ability to work with a variety of cultures and backgrounds. Successful acceptance and completion of the police academy training are required as part of continued employment.
