High School Diploma or GED
Provide leadership to officers on the patrol shift; instill integrity and excellence in the performance of their duties. Supervise patrol shift officers in the absence of the Patrol Lieutenant and the Patrol Sergeant. Must be able to serve in the capacity of a Police Officer qualified to carry firearms; patrol the campus community, testify in court proceedings, maintain accurate records; operate and maintain law enforcement equipment; enforce all university, state, local and federal laws; investigate suspected criminal incidents and respond to emergency situations. Perform other related tasks or special projects as assigned.
Required Educational Qualifications and Field of Study
High School diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE) required.
Required Year(s) and Type of Work Experience
Two years of directly related experience required. US citizen, 18 years of age minimum, valid drivers license. Honorable discharge if military experience; must pass a psychological and physical examination administered by a licensed physician at the department’s expense; Tennessee P.O.S.T. certifiable candidate.
Preferred Year(s) and Type of Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Certificates/ Licenses Preferred
Current with P.O.S.T. Commission standards for law enforcement officers in the State of Tennessee.
