Under the general direction of the Chief of Police, is responsible for a variety of administrative, technical, and/or supervisory tasks related to day-to-day operations. Performs supervisory oversight for assigned personnel. Work includes overseeing of all employees and related activities involved with oversight of Permits and Special Event Planning. Assignments are received orally and in writing. Work is performed with considerable independence within established policies, procedures, and guidelines. Work is reviewed through results obtained, Performs other work as required.

JOB DUTIES:
Essential: 45% Special Events: Has delegated authority from the Chief of Police to direct law enforcement planning during special events on campus and serves in a Senior Staff position within Incident Command Protocol during planned and/or unplanned events. Serves as the person in charge of Police and Security issues and the liaison with the entities that plan or hold hundreds of events each year at the University. Identifies the security and safety needs for public events and dignitary visits, including extremely large-scale events such as Clemson football games. Identifies events where the threat of unrest or violence is significant, and proactively manages layout and entry requirements for such events. Plans all aspects of police staffing and assignments before, during, and after events. Develops and provides training for Clemson and outside agency law enforcement officers who work events. Manages liaison to contract security and other vendors who provide services related to public safety at events. Determines which events will be charged for services and prepares detailed documents for billing purposes. Prepares a variety of reports about department functions relating to Special Events. Briefs others on event details and administrative decisions, changes, etc. Maintains current Emergency Operations Plan for the Department.

Essential: 25% Administrative Management: Oversees personnel assigned in Kronos Time Management System. Conducts annual EPMS evaluations as well as review and oversee the EPMS process for personnel assigned. Conducts periodic reviews of in-car and body-wear video. Supports law enforcement operations throughout the University.

Essential: 10% Enforcement: Enforces State, local and University laws, rules and regulations as a certified police officer. Exercises arrest powers when appropriate. Completes incident reports, booking reports, fingerprints and photographs when necessary.

Essential: 20% Liaison: Maintains liaison and supports law enforcement operations throughout the University system of campuses. Conducts liaison communication and meetings with other University departments, judicial office, and other mutual aid partners to ensure efficient and effective working relationships. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma and experience performing patrol or investigative duties with a public law enforcement agency. A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the required law enforcement experience.

Certifications- Class I LEO certification; must gain SC certification within 1 year

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree

Preferred Education: Masters Degree

Work Experience: 7+ experience as a sworn officer in law enforcement; 3+ years supervisory experience.
