Birmingham-Southern College is currently seeking a Chief of Campus Police. The qualified individual will be a member of the campus police force, which serves and protects the college community. The Chief of Campus Police manages, trains, and leads College law enforcement in providing safety, security, and service to campus.
High school diploma or equivalent is required, some college preferred and at least 10 years of experience in law enforcement management. Communication skills, both verbal and written, experience in investigative procedures, and organizational skills are critical to this position. The Chief of Campus Police must possess a working understanding of criminal/traffic law, and must have an acute degree of knowledge for campus policies, rules, and procedures. Must be able to carry and qualify with a sidearm. Candidate will possess and maintain a current Alabama pistol license and CPR certification. Motor Vehicle Reports and Criminal History Reports will be checked on top candidates. Individuals hired into the Campus Police Department will undergo Mace Training within their first year of employment. Incumbent must maintain a level of physical fitness that would enable him or her to perform duties associated with police work. Candidate must possess a current Alabama driver’s license and be insurable.
